RuutCheck is designed to keep your information on your device. In guest mode, nothing you enter leaves your phone. If you create an account, only the data needed to sync your progress is stored on our servers, and only with your consent. Your photos never leave your device. We do not sell your data. You can delete everything at any time.
In guest mode (default): your assessment answers, scalp check-ins, wash logs, routine and product entries, plan progress, optional progress photos, and settings are stored only on your device. We cannot see them.
If you create an account: your email address and a copy of your app data are stored on our servers so you can sign in on another device without losing progress. Cloud sync happens only after you opt in.
Photos are never uploaded. Progress photos remain on your device only, in both guest and account mode.
Optional "About you" answers (gender, age range, hair length) are used only to tailor examples and product suggestions, and follow the same storage rules as everything else.
Usage analytics: we record only event names (for example, "assessment completed") to understand which features are used. Analytics never contain your answers, symptoms, scores, photos, or any health information.
RuutCheck provides general cosmetic and wellness guidance about scalp and hair-care routines. It does not diagnose or treat medical conditions, and the information you log is not shared by us with any healthcare provider or insurer.
Product purchase buttons open our website in your browser; purchases are handled by that site's own checkout and policies. We may earn revenue from products purchased through the app; recommendations are generated from your assessment, not from commissions.
RuutCheck is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Account data is stored with our infrastructure provider (Supabase) using industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, with access controls restricting each account to its own data. We keep account data until you delete it or your account.
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and notify account holders in the app or by email.
